A return to the fairly normal 1-2 finish form for the Mercedes team may not have been totally unexpected in Russia, but the finishing order of the two definitely caused a big shuffle in the F1B staff points. Having scored at least nine points in each of the three opening rounds by way of being the only staffer to pick Rosberg for the win, Johnpierre had built up a thirteen point lead over Dave in 2nd spot. However, obviously thinking that Hamilton’s luck would finally return, JP chose the Brit to take the win this time out. As we all know now, that didn’t happen. Nico joined a select list of multiple championship winning drivers to take seven straight wins, while the former championship staff leader went home with a goose egg in the points column.
Dave, however, did correctly pick both of the Silver Arrows finishing positions, vaulting him up into the lead position. Todd also picked up those same fifteen points, moving him to just one point out of second. While Grace also went with Lewis for the win, keeping her in a fighting 4th, Tony finally picked up some much needed points with the top two positions chosen correctly. Where as JP had a thirteen point lead going into Russia, we come out with the top five staffers now separated by just fourteen points. Andrew moved out of last place by picking up five points via Raikkonen’s third and Haryanto skidding to a stop sooner than anyone else on that very eventful first lap. Someone finally picked up First Out points for the unfortunate Manor pilot! Paul and Tom, meanwhile, joined Johnpierre in going scoreless this weekend.
