Hamilton claims pole in Brazil

Qualifying started with cloud cover and the continuing threat that weather could play a factor in not only Saturday’s session but perhaps even Sunday’s race could find some moisture. The percentage chance of a wet qualifying? That was pegged at 70%.

The rain never materialized apart from a few drops here and there but the predominantly dry track allowed Lewis Hamilton to secure his 60th pole position which sets him up well to make a final push for the title.

Hamilton’s teammate, Nico Rosberg, secured second while a self-described ho hum lap from Kimi Raikkonen completed the top three. Kimi was followed closely by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
